“Don’t do stupid shit”, “Mother of all bleeding” or “Party on”… Welcome to the knowledge base for outdoor first aid!

Hi, I'm Torsten.
At 17, I found a first-aid book under the car seat at my mom's house. Reading through it, I kept thinking how useful it would be to know this stuff. In an accident, we usually don't have time to study technical literature. This led to training as a paramedic and four years of traveling abroad, during which I worked for several NGOs and often practiced bush medicine out of necessity. At one point in Cambodia, I was met with disbelief when I disinfected a pair of combination pliers with alcohol in the village clinic and then transported them in a sterile glove so we could pull a tooth from a 12-year-old boy. It was there that I discovered that "primitive" medical care in the wilderness is a world unto itself. Since then, I've been able to further develop the experience I gained during that time as a medical training instructor and expedition medic with Wandermut on numerous tours.
Skills: Paramedic, medical student, former tutor in the skills lab of Jena University Hospital, medical director of Wandermut, leader/participant of various expeditions
My motto: Party On!

Hi, I'm Merten.
I have been involved with first aid since my youth. Starting in the school first aid service, later as a youth group leader in a relief organization, and finally as a first aid instructor, I have been passing on knowledge and skills for years. The process of knowledge transfer has always fascinated me.
This fascination led me to study to become a teacher. I then complemented my university studies with a several-month internship in Tenerife and taught for seven months at an outdoor college in Norway. Since 2023, I have been a teacher, inspiring students with chemistry and mathematics. I am also a certified wilderness educator.
To balance things out, I enjoy hiking, climbing in Saxon Switzerland, or bouldering.
Qualifications: Wilderness educator, second state examination for teaching, first aid trainer, specialist trainer for youth, youth group leader
My motto: Mistakes are learning opportunities.

Hi, I'm Konstantin!
Responsible for: Server infrastructure, webshop and logistics
I come from the field of bushcraft, outdoor activities, and survival. I gained my first experience in this area during my military service and have remained involved ever since. I've been particularly fascinated by outdoor equipment and tools for years, and I'm really looking forward to the extreme stress tests our new gear will undergo.
Aside from all outdoor activities, I work in the IT industry.
My motto: When you're 80, you won't remember the day you almost pulled something off.

Hi, I'm Moritz!
Provides advice on marketing, social media, and dark humor
I enjoy being outdoors. Whether that involves via ferrata climbing, bouldering, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, or hiking, it doesn't really matter to me. Whether alone or with my wife and friends – the further out, the better. I've had the opportunity to gain six years of experience in marketing and e-commerce before moving on to new challenges in IT. These are the experiences I primarily bring to my consulting work at Hinterland Medics.
My motto: Just do it.

Hi, I'm Stanij!
Responsible for: Regulatory Affairs and Quality Management of First Aid Kits and Medical Devices
In 2015, I completed my dual studies in medical technology and subsequently worked for innovative companies specializing in cancer care and optics. Due to the small size of these companies, I gained insights into all business areas and, among other things, oversaw complete QMS implementations up to initial certification. This experience has given me both expertise in medical devices and practical experience gained through various expeditions.
In my free time I do DIY projects, working a lot with wood or in my garden. Or I go climbing somewhere. Or hiking. Basically, anything outdoors.
